Volume 1: Conceptualizing and Researching Governance in Public and Non-Profit Organizations
Edited by: Luca Gnan, Alessandro Hinna and Fabio Monteduro

The first volume of the series gives an outline of the most recent research being done on public and non profit governance at the international level (with particular emphasis in Europe). The volume focuses on the “organizational” governance that still remains “a neglected area of governance” both in the public and in the non-profit sector.

The authors examine the recent trends and the future directions of the public and non-profit governance research. They address broad issues of how to conceptualize and research 'governance' in public and non-profit organizations and deal with recent trends of research on governance mechanisms.

Editorial Objectives

Studies in Public and Non-Profit Governance is a new annual series publishing double-blind peer reviewed articles in a growing area of governance research.

Studies encourages articles on innovative issues and research methodologies that are restricted in traditional journals in this area.

The series focuses on the “micro” level of governance in public and non-profit sector, which is a neglected area of research. Therefore, governance systems, mechanisms and roles are primarily investigated at organizational level.

The series also includes studies on how this ‘organisational governance’ relates to the meso-level and the macro level of governance.

Topicality

The series allows for the establishment of an engaged community of researchers very active in the field and involved in the coordination of thematic tracks in well-known international conferences of management and organizational studies.
