Editorial Objectives

The Advanced Series in Management (ASM) maintains an openness to multiple paradigms of management research including what has been mainstream empirical work. However, the ASM emphasizes an agenda to challenge traditional thinking in the field of management and organization theories, and encourage volumes that develop new conceptual, methodological, and empirical approaches. Volumes published by the ASM contribute to enhancement and communication of knowledge concerning the development of managerial concepts and practice, and the use, impact and economics of management with organizational and societal implications. Particularly welcome are scholarly ideas that may steer the management field into new directions that are largely unexplored by the flagship publications.

Topicality

The series publishes sole-authored and edited volumes focused on developing the ideas that will become the foundation for the next generation of management theory, research methodology and practice. It highlights practical insights and new approaches that are essential in managing today's organizations.

Key Benefits

Unlike most series addressing management issues through incremental extensions and applications of existing theory, ASM provides a forum for the discussion and development of new perspectives on management that will influence the direction and change the content of future management theory and practice, and that suggest new approaches to management research and practice.

Key Audiences

The series:

• builds a solid grounding for management researchers developing new management theory for today's complex environments.
• focuses on the important challenges facing organizational thinkers in building new organization theory and deriving new principles for management practice.
• brings together systems and strategy thinkers to develop new perspectives and  approaches that are essential in managing today's organizations.
• provides practical insights and new approaches for managers, consultants and  academics alike.

Coverage

Prior volumes in ASM have: introduced the competence-based approach to strategy and management theory and practice; defined a new taxonomy of organizational types and change pathways; elaborated the nature and functioning of virtual organizations; explored the relevance of complexity theory for management theory and practice; developed a systems perspective on firm resources, capabilities, and management processes; presented an autopoietic theory of firm formation and evolution, and discussed possibilities of Information technologies for the Human Resource Management. .
