Aims and Scope

The monograph series, International Symposia in Economic Theory and Econometrics, has been publishing journal-quality proceedings of conferences and symposia, as well as research monographs of the highest quality and importance, since 1990. Since all articles published in these volumes are refereed relative to the standards of the best journals, not all papers presented at related symposia are published in these proceedings volumes. These volumes sometimes include articles that were not presented at a symposium or conference, but are relevant to the focus of the volume. The topics chosen for these volumes are those of particular research importance at the time of the selection of the topic. Different coeditors are used for each volume, with coeditors chosen to have particular expertise relevant to the volumes focus.

This monograph series is the successor to the series by the same name previously published by Cambridge University Press and Elsevier Science. An earlier monograph series that had similar objectives, but narrower focus, was the eminent Berkeley Symposium on Mathematical Statistics and Probability series, published by the University of California Press between 1946 and 1971; and hence International Symposia in Economic Theory and Econometrics often is viewed as the successor to the earlier Berkeley Symposia series.
