Strategic management relies on an array of complex methods drawn from various allied disciplines to examine how managers attempt to lead their firms toward success. Research Methodology in Strategy and Management provides a forum for critique, commentary, and discussion about key methodology issues in the strategic management field. The series is instrumental in initiating and guiding important conversations about how research methodologies are conducted in strategy and management. In each volume, a diverse selection of authors draw upon their deep and rich methodological experiences and their contributions not only address important and timely methodological topics but also provide plain and straightforward insights as to how to improve the application of research methods in strategy and management.
Renowned and emerging scholars (including former presidents and fellows of the Academy of Management and highly accomplished methodologists) contribute chapters in their areas of methodological expertise. David J. Ketchen, Jr. is the Lowder Eminent Scholar in Entrepreneurship and a Professor of Management at Auburn University. He earned his Ph.D. at the Pennsylvania State University. His research interests include entrepreneurship and franchising, methodological issues in organizational research, strategic supply chain management, and the determinants of superior organizational performance. He has served as an associate editor for Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Organizational Research Methods, Journal of Operations Management, and Journal of International Business Studies. His work has been published in journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Operations Management, and Journal of Management, among others.
Donald D. Bergh is Professor of Management at the University of Denver, a Professor and Chair of Management at University College Dublin and a member of the Graduate Faculty of Purdue University. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Colorado at Boulder. His research interests include corporate strategy, divestitures, spin-off firms, mergers and acquisitions, and the application of research methods in organizational research. He has served as an associate editor for the Academy of Management Journal and for Organizational Research Methods. His work has appeared in the Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science and the Journal of Management.
