Call for Chapters - The ‘Arab Spring’: Education & Social Change in Egypt

Editorial Objectives:

The primary objective of Advances in Education in Diverse Communities:  Research, Policy and Praxis is to present original research, policy formulations and praxis involving education and related social welfare issues in global contexts. This series distinguishes between the narrower institutional confines of schooling to the broader understanding of education to include multiple ways of learning, ways of knowing and ways of understanding in multiple settings and contexts, among diverse populations. Similarly, education is defined as a larger part of any society’s social welfare, social safety net.  As such, companion and integrative issues such as poverty, power, race, public health, immigration, juvenile in/justice, inequality, homelessness, housing, un/employment, environmental concerns, ethnic and racial conflict, and a host of other social, political and economic variables play significant roles in providing, sustaining and furthering the educational advancement of any society in both the developed and developing worlds.  In appreciation of these integrative issues, this series proudly publishes those volumes which highlight not only factors inside schools which advance or impede education, but solicits original research on those factors outside of schools whichadvance or retard education in multiple settings and contexts, locally, nationally or internationally.

Series Scope and Coverage:

Each volume that is published in this series contributes to the global dialogue on the critical role of education and schooling in the advancement of any society. Serious focus on those variables which advance or retard the provisions of schooling and education in democratic societies make this series relevant to a host of multidisciplinary professionals including but not limited to psychologists, political scientists, historians, sociologists, policy analysts, educators, public health officials, clinicians as well as  teachers, students and administrators at all levels of schooling.  Of particular importance is the global focus which sheds light on key issues with respect to social welfare, which relate directly or indirectly to educational advance, in multiple nation states.

Significance:

Given the centrality of education and schooling in both the developed and developing worlds, this series provides contemporary analyses of a wide range of controversial global issues impacting the social welfare of a nation, in general, and education, as a social welfare policy issue, in particular.  The impact of the series on contemporary research and public policy discussions in global contexts, among diverse populations, cannot be overstated.
