Assessment and outcomes evaluation have become increasingly important in librarianship. About the Editors

Dr Anne Woodsworth was Dean of the School of Information and Library Science, Pratt Institute, and of the Palmer School of Library and Information Science, Long Island University, before becoming a consultant.

Dr. Woodsworth contributes actively to library and higher education missions. She is a past president of the Association of Research Libraries, the Canadian Association of Research Libraries, and the Canadian Association of Special Libraries and Information Services. Dr. Woodsworth has published six monographs and over 60 journal articles and book chapters. She has served on numerous boards, committees, and councils including OCLC, the American Library Association (ALA), Library Administration and Management Association (LAMA) ACRL, EDUCOM, and CAUSE.

Dr David Penniman has most recently held the position of Executive Director of Nylink within SUNY. Prior to that he held tenured academic and administrative positions at the Universities of Buffalo and Tennessee.

He has also served as consultant to management over the past 25 years. He is a past president and CEO of the Council on Library and Information Resources, was a director at AT&T Bell Laboratories, and was Vice President for Research and Planning at OCLC. He has also worked as a research scholar in the computer sciences group at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Austria and as an information scientist and manager at Battelle Memorial Institute.
